Rooftop Waterproofing Failure:Â An intrusive investigation of a large residential building in Sydney, revealing significant waterproofing and drainage defects across the rooftop. The investigation identified extensive water ponding, drainage outlets positioned higher than surrounding areas, delaminated waterproofing membranes and deterioration of the existing concrete resurfacing system.
The investigation highlights the importance of looking beyond the visible symptoms of water ingress and systematically identifying the underlying defects, drainage conditions and potential pathways for water movement before designing remedial works.
